Alumni fellowship
Launched in 2024, The Alumni Fellows program is designed to support eligible Willie Mae Rock Camp program alumni in developing their artistic and technical skills, creating new creative works, and advancing their careers in music and audio-related fields. During this fellowship, fellows receive a stipend and create a project of their choosing with support from our program team and special guest mentors.
This fellowship provides a link between our current youth programs and our adult alumni, ensuring that Willie Mae is supporting young women and gender-expansive creatives throughout every step of their musical and audio-related careers.

Identify as female, non-binary, transgender, or another gender-marginalized identity
be between the ages of 18–26
be an emerging artist, musician, or creative in a music or audio-related medium
not have an existing recording contract

Applications for our next fellowship cycle will open this winter. The application includes questions about you, your work, and what you hope to accomplish during the fellowship. We also ask for work samples. Sign up for our mailing list or check this page for updates!

The fellowship is currently six months long.

Final applications are generally due six to eight weeks after the application opens.

The fellowship includes access to our creative sound lab and gear, located in Brooklyn, NY. While we expect that some of the fellowship will be completed remotely, fellows should be able to commit to at least some in-person participation to take full advantage of the resources available.

Yes! We invite program alumni to apply for guest teaching artist positions and to join our community. We also invite alumni to tell us how they are doing through periodic surveys. Sign up to our mailing list to receive updates, announcements about events, and other opportunities.

Yes, fellows receive a stipend of $15,000.

There are several ways you can support the fellowship! Attend a culminating fellow presentation to show your support and help make our fellows feel like rock stars; share the application with any Willie Mae alumni in your network; or make a donation here to support our organization’s work.
