We at Willie Mae know this is a tremendously challenging time for all of us. We also know that now more than ever, young people need music and community as outlets for creative expression and meaningful engagement.
With a little over two months to go until our Willie Mae Rock Camp summer programming, we are close to reaching our goal this year, but we can’t do it without your help.
With your support, we can continue to have Rock Camp be an empowering tool of self-expression and self-esteem building.
Right now, we are preparing for both an in-person and virtual rock camp this summer. Tentative in-person dates are still July 13-17 at the Blue School.
This summer our music education approach will include a new emphasis on cross-disciplinary experiences combining art, songwriting, and technology. We are turning the unexpected challenge of social distancing into an opportunity to provide online programs, beginning with the launch of a virtual weekend arts immersion camp this spring and a two-week virtual summer music camp.
Teaching artists, under the direction and vision of programs manager LaFrae Sci, will develop and deliver a suite of online content and programming including workshops, videos, collaborative activities, and performances.
Please give today and then find your favorite Willie Mae Rock Camp photo or video and share it with us: #ShareYourSong @WillieMaeRockCamp on Instagram and Facebook and @WillieMaeRock on Twitter. Your support makes all the difference.
