WE ROCK THE SCIENCE OF SOUND AND THE ART OF DEEP LISTENING.
Willie Mae Rock Camp (WMRC) is a nonprofit music and mentoring program dedicated to empowering girls and gender-expansive youth. Our programs explore the intersection of music, technology, and experimentation to spark curiosity and creative exploration through a social justice lens.
We seek to lift the voices of those who have historically been silenced, and our programs directly address opportunity gaps in electro-acoustic music education and technology pathways for underrepresented young people.
Now in our 17th year of creating spaces for girls and gender-expansive youth to rock, we have made a commitment to expand our impact through year-round programming designed to engage students in culturally-relevant, STEAM-based learning.

As part of the citywide celebration of our cultural institutions, please join Willie Mae Rock Camp for a free evening of exploration with our collection of electronic instruments - Let’s Rock.
Families are invited to attend our Party in the Parking Lot for an outdoor gathering of hands-on play.
Summer intensive in which students create collaboratively in small cohorts led by adjunct teaching artists

A free, Afrofuturist-inspired, STEAM-based after school program where students explore the science of sound, DIY electronics, and music production
ROCK, RESILIENCE & RECOVERY
Workshops created specifically for adults
Programming is delivered by professional musicians, teaching artists, and experts in the field. At our new Brooklyn studio, students have access to a creative sound lab designed to invite imagination, experimentation, and deep listening. We provide hands-on instruction and mentorship in a range of music production techniques and tools including acoustic and electronic instruments, hardware, and software.
