Teaching Artist - Rock Band Instruments & Songwriting
(In-School)

Position Details

Willie Rock Camp (WMRC) is seeking contract teaching artists to facilitate music education programming at our Brooklyn studio and throughout NYC.

Teaching artists, in collaboration with WMRC staff, work directly with students across our suite of programs to provide hands-on instruction, mentorship, and creative guidance. WMRC teaching artists bring expertise and skill, allowing our students to connect with and learn from professional musicians, artists, and experts in music and technology fields.

Through our in-school partnerships we are able to offer hands-on music education in the classroom. We currently provide two in-school program models, both of which run for the duration of the school year:

  • Through Rhythm & Voice, we bring hands-on instruction into the music room. Teaching artists work with a set roster of students each week on original compositions, vocals, percussion, and general songwriting. Teaching artists for this position should have great songwriting skills and rock band capability!

  • In Advisory, we facilitate creative thought explorations and discussion. Teaching artists guide students to think creatively, and can use writing, drawing, or verbal prompts to encourage students to exercise their imaginations and envision their future.

Teaching artists are invited to apply with a specific program in mind, or to be considered in general for our on-call all star roster for gigs across our suite of programs.

Compensation is paid by gig.
