Year Round Internships
Office & Programs Intern:
Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls seeks office interns to provide support for all aspects of the organization’s work. This unpaid position provides a unique opportunity to develop and refine office skills in a small and supportive work environment, contribute to rock camp’s service to youth, and learn about many aspects of operating a small non-profit organization.
Interns work 16 – 25 hours per week (more welcome), with flexible schedules during business hours (the office is generally open Monday – Thursday, 10 AM-6PM). The internships take place at the rock camp office, which is located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, as well as our two summer program sites in Manhattan. The internship requires a three-month commitment.
The internship is best suited for college-age adults or high school students/teens, and involves a variety of tasks depending on need and intern’s interests. Intern responsibilities include tasks such as organizing the office supply closet, scanning and filing documents, preparing and sending mailings, assisting with maintenance of physical office and program space, organizing music equipment, researching outreach resources, help implement programs and more.
Interns are expected to show a high level of reliability and flexibility. Office experience preferred but not required. Experience with rock camp programs as a participant or volunteer preferred, but not required.
Willie Mae staff provide training and supervision, and are available to complete forms related to the internship for students and anyone else interested in volunteering as part of school or community service program.
