Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls (WMRC) is a non-profit music and mentoring program that empowers girls, women and/or gender non-binary youth and adults through music education, volunteerism, and activities that foster self-respect, leadership skills, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Statement of Purpose
We believe that positioning people who have historically been silenced because of their gender and racial identity to experience the burst of confidence and self-efficacy that comes from learning to play an instrument, writing original music, performing, and engaging in social justice conversations with peers and mentors across the socio-economic spectrum, builds the next generation of female and/or gender non-binary musical activists who will define leadership, creative innovation, and civic engagement for generations to come.
Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls operates a summer day camp, after school programs, and community events in New York City. Learn more about our year round programs.
