WMRC is a year-round, non-profit music education and mentoring program dedicated to empowering girls, women, trans and gender expansive folks through arts and activism.

Designed to bridge the digital divide and help girls, trans and gender nonconforming youth thrive, Willie Mae Future Sounds is a suite of year-round online and in-person programming that blends Afrofuturism, STEAM, music technology, and social justice. This supports our mission of youth creating the sounds of the future and letting themselves be heard, seen, and represented.

As an anti-racist, feminist organization, we continually work to recognize the ways in which systems of oppression impact our work and the lives of participants and their families. We hope to see an end to poverty and vast income inequality soon. In the meantime, we strive to make our programs accessible to all applicants, regardless of their economic resources.

The tuition is: $200 on a sliding scale for the session! You can enroll in one, two, or all three classes dependent on your interest. The fee is the same for the program.

Deadlines for applications:  September 28th, 2020

We hope to see you this Fall!

Participants will be creating digital content, using social media, and video conferencing. Our goal is to provide the tools and support for youth to create their own social justice and musical media AND take over Willie Mae Rock Camp's social media platforms. #youthtakeover #futuresounds #buildingourfuture

By participating in this program, you agree that the work created by the participant will be used within our organization on our website, social media platforms, and other materials. The participant's name, voice, likeness may also be a part of recorded materials since we will be using video conferencing for the program. I understand that the participant's creative work and photo may be used in a wide variety of materials including newsletters, brochures, podcasts, radio and TV broadcasts, fundraising letters, annual reports, websites, social media, and other print and digital communications.
